How long will it take to repair my computer?

Pick up and drop off service usually takes 2 business days. It can take more time depending on the problems that we find and if we need to order parts. We will keep you informed at all times of the status of your repair. We are typically able to handle at home service the same day or next day.

If you need your computer repaired faster than that we do offer express service for an additional fee. Call for availability of this service.

What do I need to have prepared for your visit?

If we are picking up your computer we will need your computers password if it has one and if it is a laptop we will need the AC power cord.

If your computer's hard drive has failed or in some cases if you have a virus we will need all of the startup and installation disks for the Windows or OS X operating systems and any programs or drivers that you will need reinstalled.

If you are having a problem with your internet connection we will need passwords to your firewall/router and information about your internet service provider like DSL Telephone number or your cable account number.

What kind of computers do you work on?

We work on all manufactures of computers and notebooks. That includes Acer, Apple, Dell, HP, Toshiba, IBM, Lenovo, Panasonic, and the guy who built it for you down the street.

We work on any version of Microsoft Windows such as 95, 98, 2000, XP, and Vista. We can work on any version of Mac OS X like Puma, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, and Leopard. We can also work on many flavors of Linux like Ubuntu and RedHat, but if you have Linux it is likely you don't need us!

Can I drop my computer off for repair?

Yes, but please call us to schedule when you will be by. We are techies on the go and are frequently in and out of the office.

Can you fix the computers at my office?

Yes we can, but our services are really geared toward the home and home offices. If you need service for a business with 5 computers or a server please contact our sister company Avatar Computer Consulting.

Do you warrant or guarantee your work?

Hey Techie is on the job until your problem is repaired. Your satisfaction and our reputation are both important to us. We strive for a problem-free computer and don't regard our work as complete until it is as nearly so as possible. We offer a 90 day warranty on our work beginning the day we complete the repair.

If something is overlooked, we will be pleased to take care of it. Hey Techie honors the manufacturer's warranty on parts and always uses new parts unless you request otherwise or unless new parts are unavailable due to the age of your computer. In the instance of an older computer, we will have to complete the repair with a used or refurbished part. The warranty on such parts is generally very limited. We will make the best possible repair with what is available, but we cannot provide a warranty where none exists. In addition, if it is the vendor who must service the part warranty, we can not be responsible for the vendor's timeliness or expense.

Hey Techie's warranty does not include a guarantee of any product you install yourself, problems arising from Windows Updates, or reoccurring viruses or spyware. All viruses and spyware will be removed before we count the job complete, but we can not guarantee that an operating system will remain clean while in use.

What if I decline to have my computer repaired?

We understand that it is sometimes more costly to repair a computer than what it is worth. In those instances we will reduce our service fee to $89.00. If you purchase a new computer we will apply this fee against any setup or data transfer services that you need.
